Bundoran and Circular Flow partners in
Circular Economy for Neoprene Waste

We’re thrilled to announce our partnership with Bundoran Surf Co, the heart of surfing in Ireland. Located in Bundoran, Co. Donegal, the country’s surf capital, they stand as a distinguished surf school, surf lodge, and surf shop.

Beyond their dedication to the sport, they are deeply committed to promoting a sustainable circular economy for neoprene waste and striving to prevent countless neoprene products from ending up in landfills.

Recognizing the reliance of the cold-water surfing community on wetsuits throughout the year, we understand the environmental urgency to address the neoprene waste. An average wetsuit is used by consumers for about 24-36 months, while surf schools have a lifecycle of around 12-18 months for their wetsuits.

To address this pressing issue, our partnership with Bundoran Surf Co provides a closed-loop recycling scheme for all wetsuits purchased from them starting January 1st, 2021.

The recycling method we’ve set up is straightforward. Once you’re done with your suit (ensure it’s clean and dry), return it to Bundoran Surf Co. They will then forward these suits to us at Circular Flow, where we repurpose the neoprene into innovative items like wetsuit accessories, yoga and gaming mats, backpacks, hoodies, and even pencil cases.

Moreover, we’re proud to be the solution for Bundoran’s damaged surf school and rental wetsuits that aren’t suitable for repair or resale.

If you’ve bought a wetsuit from Bundoran Surf Co since January 1st, 2021, and are thinking of recycling it, please send it their way to initiate the process.

The first collection period is set for May 2023. While there will be more collection opportunities later this year for old suits, remember that any new suits bought from Bundoran Surf Co can be returned to them at the end of their lifespan, and they’ll ensure these suits reach us at Circular Flow for repurposing.
