As we know, neoprene is one of the hardest materials to recycle, with over 380 tonnes being burned or landfilled each year in the UK alone.
This is why we’re working hard at Circular Flow to make sure we dramatically increase the amount of neoprene that gets recycled rather than simply thrown away, with old neoprene being transformed into new products at our facility in Bulgaria.
But imagine what we could do with a facility in the UK, home to some of the world’s most popular surfing locations…
This is why we’re excited to announce that a plan to develop the UK’s first wetsuit recycling facility is among eight new projects funded by Future Fibre Networks Plus, which aim to make environmental science a core part of UK fashion, apparel and textile sectors.
The University of Plymouth has partnered with Circular Flow to examine the possibility of developing a UK neoprene recycling facility, to help make the surfing and diving industry more circular and sustainable.
We are proud to be working with the University of Plymouth and Future Fibres Network Plus to improve circularity, working towards keeping even more neoprene out of landfill!
